COMAU 1GXL TWIN horizontal machining centre

The COMAU 1GXL TWIN horizontal machining centre manufactured in 2003 by the Italian company Comau S.p.A. consists of two modules mounted opposite each other. The machine is used for machining the lower cylinder head. Each of the two modules of the milling centre has a rotary table with a device for clamping the workpiece during machining, a movable head for milling, drilling and smoothing the workpiece, and a variety of power supply installations.

The magazine of the COMAU 1GXL TWIN machining centre, with automatic tool locking/unlocking system, holds 23 tools of 4 kg weight, 270 mm long and 170 mm in diameter. The machine spindle with HSK 63 tool holder rotates at a maximum speed of 16000 rpm. Feed rates in the X/Y/Z axes are 630 mm (in each axis).

The milling machine is controlled by a SIEMENS Sinumerik 840D CNC control unit and has a portal for automatic loading/unloading of the workpiece. The total weight of the milling centre is 29200 kg.
