The ELWEMA valve seat ring injection machine was manufactured in 2002 by the German brand ELWEMA Werkzeug- und Maschinenbau GmbH. The machine serves to force valve seat rings and valve guides into the bottom cylinder head. The machine is equipped with, among others: SIEMENS Sinumerik 840D CNC control system, lubrication system with WILLY VOGEL control unit and a number of mechanisms necessary for machine operation.
During the working cycle, the machine injects valve seat rings and valve guides into one cylinder head at a time. The cycle consists of two processes – in the first, two valve seat rings cooled in liquid nitrogen are pressed in simultaneously, while in the second, two valve guides are pressed in simultaneously at room temperature.
The insertion and removal of the cylinder heads can take place automatically or manually. The automatic process is carried out by means of a gantry lift mechanism, after the selector switch has been set to the “automatic loading” mode. The cylinder head is loaded onto the left plate for lubrication and removed from the right plate in the unloading position. On the other hand, the insertion and removal of the cylinder heads manually, is carried out by means of a hoist, after the “automatic loading” mode has been switched off with the selector switch.
Automatic feeding of the valve seat rings and valve guides to the pressing punches is possible with the aid of the insertion and centring mechanism and the parts feeding system to the container on the cylinder head gantry lift. With each loading and unloading, the gantry lifter fills the containers on the ELWEMA machine.
The manual feeding of the valve seat rings and valve guides to the injection punches takes place after switching off the automatic mode with the selector switch and using suitable tools for handling the valve seat rings and valve guides. One set of valve seat rings and valve guides must be loaded for each cylinder head installed.
The RT 100-08-240 rotary table is mounted on the machine bed and consists of an arc-welded frame with steel supports, an electromagnetically controlled rotary table with 10 positions and a connecting plate. With each actuation of the rotary top the valve seat rings and valve guides as well as the actuators on the coupling plate can be turned by 36° (1/10 turn).
