FINN-POWER LP6 punch laser machine was manufactured in 2008 in Finland by FINN-POWER OY. The machine was used for machining AISI 304 and AISI 316 stainless steel sheet metal. Since its purchase, it has been regularly serviced by the manufacturer and has undergone annual technical inspections.

The FINN-POWER LP6 is a high-performance sheet metal machining center that combines punching and laser cutting technologies. It enables comprehensive machining of workpieces with a maximum thickness of 8 mm, eliminating the need for additional operations on other machines. The use of both these technologies in a single system reduces task completion times and increases overall production efficiency.

Punching is performed by means of a hydraulic cylinder, whose stroke and speed are fully numerically controlled. The ability to programme the upper stroke limit enables the punch’s movement to be precisely adjusted to the thickness of the workpiece. Adjustment of the cylinder’s lower position, meanwhile, enables compensation of the punch length without the need for additional adjustment shims. The punching system is also equipped with an automatic overload protection mechanism, which protects the machine’s components during operation under heavy loads.

The hydraulic cylinder cooperates with a 20-station turret with interchangeable tool holders. This solution allows the turret to be configured according to the requirements of the production process. Automatic tool exchange takes place in a matter of seconds by rotating the turret along the shortest path to the programmed position. During punching, the head is mechanically locked in place by pneumatic conical positioning pins. The machine is also equipped with the CNC Index Tool system, which enables tools to be rotated automatically to any programmed angle. The indexing mechanism operates simultaneously with the movement of the X and Y axes, meaning that punching, stamping and nibbling at various angles can be performed without the need for manual tool change.

The FINN POWER LP6 punch laser combination machine is equipped with a ROFIN DC025 laser resonator with a power of 2.5 kW. The laser source generates a high-quality beam, which is delivered to the cutting head via a closed, water-cooled optical system with overpressure. This solution protects the beam from dust and other contaminants, ensuring the highest cutting quality. The cutting head is equipped with a quick-change system for 5″ and 7.5″ lenses. Its vertical movement is controlled by a servo drive, whilst the autofocus function automatically adjusts the focal position according to the thickness of the workpiece. All cutting process parameters, such as laser power, nozzle height and gas pressure, are selected automatically by the CNC controller according to the material code selected in the ControlLink database. Beneath the cutting head are two independent chutes designed for small and larger parts, through which the finished parts are fed onto the conveyor.

The sheet metal is positioned on a coordinate table, which enables precise movement of the material along the X and Y axis. The programmable speed and acceleration of the axes enable the adjustment of movement parameters to suit the performed operation, whilst the automatic repositioning function of the sheet along the X axis enables the machining of larger workpieces. The workpiece is clamped to the table along the X axis by four clamps with a central locking system. The patented PCS system automatically adjusts the position of the clamps in accordance with the prepared programme and monitors their position during operation. It also defines safety zones to prevent collisions with tool holders.

The FINN-POWER LP6 punch-laser machine has been designed with simple and intuitive operation in mind. The machine operator has at his disposal an advanced SIEMENS SINUMERIK 840D CNC controller with a user-friendly interface and a range of functions to support day-to-day work. The rigid ‘O’-type design ensures high stability of the entire machine, even during intensive use. The total weight of the machine is 18000 kg.
